Training Ground For New Coaches

Mike Pettine hasn’t actually coached a game that matters yet, but his newbie status will be tied to the quarterback position all season long if neither signal caller proves to be competent.

Think about it…Did Pettine, a no-nonsense kind of coach really want the headache that comes with Johnny Manziel? For now that question remains unanswered, but we do know that Jimmy Haslam ordered Farmer to pull the trigger on the Texas A&M star  (thanks to Dowell Loggains). Will the owner pressure Pettine, a guy who’s probably grateful to be an NFL head coach, go against Haslam if the owner wants to see the guy who has brought relevance to his down-trodden team?

A coach with more credentials might be able to battle his owner, but what’s Pettine supposed to do? The last coach was fired after a year…and don’t believe for a second  that Pettine has forgot that.
