Charlie Frye was really the first of the hometown, life-long Browns fans who was supposed to come in and save the franchise from its losing ways.
Frye was popular among the fans, but the former Akron product just didn’t have the tools to get it done in the NFL.
He went into the 2007 season starting against the Steelers, but was replaced in the second quarter with Derek Anderson after he was sacked five times.
Frye went on to a life of backup duty in Seattle and Oakland.
Now, the Ohio native is a physical education teacher and assistant football coach at Wekiva High School in Florida, where he works under former Brown defensive lineman Kennard Lang.
