Will Barkeviovs Mingo Finally Play Like A 1st-Round Pick

The former first-rounder enters year three with a lot of question marks. Mingo was most effective in pass coverage last season and basically played the year with one shoulder because of torn labrum.

Give the Browns’ coaching staff credit for utilizing Mingo’s capabilities last season, but don’t count on that loyalty carrying over in 2015. Remember, the Browns have a player they really like in Scott Solomon, and the team drafted Nate Orchard–another player who can play the edge.

If Mingo’s going to get on the field, he’s going to have to earn his time, because the fact that he was a first-rounder doesn’t seem to matter any longer.

Jim O’Neil made as much known, via The Bleacher Report:

"“…Mingo is going to have to come back ready to go, and he’s going to have to earn it… Guys are going to have to earn it. We don’t care where you were drafted, when you were drafted, how much you’re getting paid; the best 11 guys and the guys who earn their roles are the guys who are going to play.”"
