4) Manziel Can’t Hit Wide Open Hawkins

The next moment ties into the previous play because Manziel could’ve saved those three defensive behemoths that couldn’t wrestle a football away from the beard-sporting, Harvard-educated Fitzpatrick.

The Browns, of course, settled for a field goal, but for a brief second it looked like Johnny was going to cash in good field position for a touchdown.

On 2nd and goal from the Jets’ 5, Manziel rolled out and had Andrew Hawkins running toward the back-left pylon in the end zone.

Even though Manziel doesn’t use the sign anymore, what could be more money than that, right?

Well, Manziel must’ve remembered the Browns were going full-blown Browns, because he somehow threw the ball closer to the sideline he needed to, and Hawkins wasn’t able to land both feet in-bounds.

The result? A field goal.

The running theme? Same old Browns.

This play was particularly disappointing because this is what Manziel is supposed to do. He was out of the pocket–on the run. It was just that kind of day.
