WMU Is Ripe To Be Ran Over

Urban Meyer made a point to call out the Buckeyes’ run blocking during a recent Big Ten teleconference.

This is important because it shows Myer is self aware. He knows he has Ezekiel Elliott on his roster–a player who finished last season with three sraight, 200-yard rushing games.

He also knows he’s playing a team in Western Michigan that’s been gashed in the two games the school’s played against FBS opponents this season.

What can we surmise by WMU’s tape from this season? The Broncos have already played a B1G opponent–Michigan State, and gave up 196 yards on the ground. Against Georgia Southern on Sept. 12, WMU surrendered 413 yards. WMU is ranked 109th in the country out of 127 teams at stopping the run.

Ezekiel Elliot’s been good this season, but there’s been a sense of disappointment over how he’s been utilized. In four games, Zeke’s rumbled for Elliott 331 yards and four touchdowns, and he’s gone over the century mark in three of those contests. However, his longest run in the past two games for only 13 yards, and he didn’t score against Northern Illinois.
