The Carr-Cooper connection

The Oakland Raiders took a shot on QB Derek Carr in last year’s draft. With his selection, the team hoped he would eventually be groomed into becoming their franchise QB. So far, that shot has worked out for them.

Through 18 games, Carr has completed 385 passes on 657 attempts for 3,682 yards, 24 TDs and 13 INTs.

For a QB going into his second year those are really good stats so far. Up until this year Carr hasn’t had many weapons in his arsenal to ease up his burden on offense.

This past year’s draft however presented the Oakland Raiders with a new receiving weapon in 4th overall pick WR Amari Cooper.

Through his first two NFL games Cooper has 156 receiving yards and a TD. These are good stats for the rookie, considering the sub-par offense he’s playing in.

Not only has Cooper played well so far in Oakland, but since he just started his career in the NFL, his ceiling is high.

He can and will continue to improve going forward. While the Carr-Cooper duo will not beat the Browns alone, Cooper is a pretty significant threat for the Raiders and he’ll be targeted a lot on Sunday.
