About The Browns

For the second week in a row I will ask: Can we stop with the “Johnny” nonsense now? McCown had perhaps the greatest performance by a Browns quarterback not named Otto Graham, throwing for 457 yards and two scores with another turnover free game. It’s time to acknowledge that McCown is better than he was given credit for.

Don’t overlook Danny Shelton’s poor performance today. After failing to flash at all early in the year, Shelton was replaced down the stretch after committing his second unnecessary roughness penalty. It’s not like he was helping the Browns defense, which is still at the bottom of the league and gave up 181 yards on the ground. Could Shelton be another first-round flame out? It’s too early to tell, but it looks like Shelton is struggling.

Holy Gary Barnidge! Another incredible grab has got this Browns fan wondering how Barnidge became the best receiving threat on the roster. I’m still not sure, but he is a big, sure handed target for McCown. We all thought it would be either Dwayne Bowe or even Terrelle Pryor coming out of camp, but it’s Barnidge that has become the safest target for Josh McCown. He ended the day with eight catches for 139 yards and a touchdown catch literally between his legs.
