Bradley Roby

When it came time for Bradley Roby to turn pro, there were major questions surrounding his maturity. Roby was an early entry, and leading up to the 2014 draft, he was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired.

Would he walk the line in the NFL? This question left some draftniks wondering if Roby would end up being a first-round pick, despite his obvious first-round talent.

“I remember all the people calling before the draft because he had a shaky year or two there where he had all that talent but people were wondering about his attitude. I said, No he’s just gone through a tough time, he’s had to adjust and he’s going to be fine. The Broncos ended up taking him in the first round, but a lot of teams weren’t sure,” Tressel told Sports Ilustrated.

The Denver Broncos were willing to gamble with Roby, making him the 31st overall selection in 2014–and thus far, the gamble’s paid off, with the second-year pro becoming a fixture in the Broncos’ secondary.

Counting the postseason, Roby’s compiled 37 tackles, while forcing two fumbles and grabbing one interception en route to the Super Bowl.
