C: Brad Daugherty

Former center Brad Daugherty is one of those players Cavs’ fans can’t wonder “what might have been.” Daugherty looked liked a perennial All-Star before back problems robbed him of his NBA career.

While his career was cut short, Daugherty managed to play in five NBA All-Star games during his eight-year career. He produced his best during his first contest in the 1987-1988 season. He scored 12 points, grabbed three rebounds, blocked a shot, and even dropped a dime.

For his career, the current ESPN NASCAR analyst averaged 19.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. He was so revered by Cavs’ country that the franchise retired his No. 43 to the rafters of Quicken Loans Arena.

In the big NBA picture, Daugherty’s career is overshadowed by other centers of the era such as Hakeem Olajuwon and Patrick Ewing. But had injuries not forced his retirement at the age of 28, Daugherty’s name would probably be mentioned in the same company as those Hall of Fame centers.
