Q: Who Can Make An Immediate Impact?

A: Wide receivers Austin Mack and Binjimen Victor

Mack and Victor are the rare, true wide receivers to be recruited by Ohio State. Lately, OSU’s typically recruited athletes and H-Back types such as Jalin Marshall and Braxton Miller. Mack and Victor will fill a void in the passing game for Urban Meyer as bigger targets that can win contested passes. We all loved the flash of Braxton Miller and the home run potential of Jalin Marshall, but Mack and Victor are more typical receivers.

In terms of the depth chart, the wide receiver spots are huge question marks. Michael Thomas, Miller, and Marshall are gone. Dontre Wilson has been just OK. Ezekiel Elliott caught a lot of passes out of the backfield. Who gets those targets? Who steps up to be a game breaker on the outside? It could very well be Mack and Victor.

Q: Who’s the biggest sleeper prospect?

A: Linebacker Tuf Borland

What a football name, right? Borland is a run stopping linebacker out of Illinois that has plenty of positive signs in his scouting report. He is a classic high-motor linebacker that will remind many of James Laurenitis in terms of his story. Three-star linebacker without a ton of fanfare that is good, not great. Borland isn’t a flashy athlete, but is incredibly instinctual and a natural defender that will only benefit from Ohio State’s strength program.

He may take a little longer to develop, but don’t be surprised to see Borland be a starter at middle linebacker by the time his career in Columbus is over.
