Cleveland Browns: 5 Worst Draft Picks Since 1999

4. CB Justin Gilbert (2014- 8th Overall)
Justin Gilbert has admittedly missed team meetings due to being a “hard sleeper.” His level of immaturity has been staggering and prompts the question did anyone talk to this guy before we drafted him?
The number eight overall pick has barely seen the field during his two seasons in Cleveland. In 23 games played with the team thus far he’s accumulated only 39 total tackles, one interception, and nine passes defended. Most of his time has been spent on special teams or the sideline.

The Johnny Manziel drama has almost overshadowed Gilbert’s selection in the 2014 Draft. There’s a serious problem when your number eight overall pick can’t come close to seeing the field during his second season.
Pierre Desir, a fourth round pick in the same class as Gilbert, routinely played over him. To make matters worse, Johnson Bademosi, an undrafted free agent signed by the Browns in 2012, also played over him. Gilbert’s lack of production is almost surreal.
The Browns also traded up a pick with the Minnesota Vikings to select him, after trading down from the four spot (Sammy Watkins and Khalil Mack were both available at four). The Vikings selected linebacker Anthony Barr with the ninth pick who has turned in two stellar seasons thus far.
Murphy’s Law certainly applies to the Browns 2014 Draft.
Next: 3. QB Brady Quinn (2007- 22nd Overall)
