5. Who Would Move In A Mid-season Trade If The Cleveland Indians Are/Are Not In The Playoff Hunt?

The most likely to move would be every veteran free agent that was signed to a one-year deal. Napoli would provide a contender with a power bat off the bench or at DH.

Rajai Davis can play all three outfield positions, is a plus defender, and is a good enough bat to keep a lineup moving. Third baseman Juan Uribe is the ultimate clubhouse presence and brings a wealth of playoff experience in the infield.

Marlon Byrd is also a potent corner outfield bat. Now that I mention it, that is exactly why the Cleveland Indians signed these guys in the first place. They just also happen to be the reason a team in the thick of the playoff chase would call Cleveland if the Indians are that far out of it.

I am not convinced though that a pitcher will be traded, at least not one of consequence. Kluber, Carlos Carrasco, and even Danny Salazar should come with such hefty price tags in trade talks that no one will pay such a ransom.

Their value to the Cleveland Indians is simply too great. Add to that the fact that next year’s free agent crop of pitchers is pretty barren of top flight talent. Teams in need of a boost to the rotation will simply have to pony up the best of the best in their farm system to even get the conversation moving.
