Cleveland Browns 2016 NFL Mock Draft 2.0

Round 5. Someone To Defend Wide Receivers
Eric Murray is best suited as a nickel cornerback in his rookie year. He moves his hips well and can stay with the faster wide receivers in the NFL. Murray only had two interceptions in college, but he is also a very physical cornerback who is around the ball constantly.

Whether Murray is deflecting passes or simply playing great defense, he has a knack for making something happen. Murray is a less athletic version of former LSU Tigers and current Arizona Cardinals defensive back Tyrann Mathieu.
Building off of his rookie year, Murray’s role long-term could easily be solidified as the third cornerback for a team. There is that chance where he plays well enough to possibly start as a rookie, but it is more realistic of him to crack the starting lineup in years two or three with all of the potential he has. Assuming Ramsey plays free safety and not cornerback, Murray could be relied upon much sooner in a more important role.
Even if Ramsey were to play cornerback, expect to see Murray on the field regularly. After all, the Cleveland Browns defensive backfield is filled with questions and there are plenty of holes that need filled.
Joe Haden is coming back from injury, Ifo Ekpre-Olomu was recently released, and the Cleveland Browns do not know what they are getting from veteran Tramon Williams. Like last season, it appears the Browns will have to rely on Charles Gaines and Pierre Desir a bit more than likely want too.
