Keep Or Trade?

Ric McElroy

I have already seen several articles on what should be done with Josh Gordon, including one by Peter Smith of NFL SPIN ZONE that says to trade him. The Cleveland Browns did not figure on his return as evidence by the load of wide receivers they drafted.

So, his presence on the field is a surprise and unexpected. The unfortunate thing is that Gordon has a tremendous amount of talent and would bring a lot to the Browns in the form of experience and athletic ability! He has something they just don’t have right now!

The biggest question right now is can Gordon stay on the field? Can he stay away from the temptations that got him suspended on numerous occasions? Or is Gordon going to be the “Johnny Manziel” type that says what you want to hear but does the opposite?

If the Cleveland Browns did trade Gordon, what would he bring back in return? The same second round pick used to get him? I doubt it very highly. Other teams will point to his transgressions and offer a sixth or seventh rounder for him.

So, it looks like another scenario of take it or leave it. If Gordon continues on with a good career he’s worth more than that. But it’s in for a penny, in for a pound now. He’s probably more valuable to keep than to give away.
