Possibly For the Indians’ MVP

Ric McElroy

Jose Ramirez has been a God send to the Cleveland Indians this year. He has played multiple positions and done an above adequate job wherever he has played.

Ramirez was set to be the Indians replacement player for both rest and injury occurrences, basically as an insurance policy because he can handle so many positions. However, since the Juan Uribe and Giovanny Urshela experiment didn’t work out, he has been a savior for the Tribe at third base.

Ramirez is one of the Indians most valuable players. Along with Mike Napoli, who has been a leader for this team, both probably should be in consideration for the AL Most Valuable Player award.

Still, for the entire American League, Ramirez probably would not garner enough votes to become the MVP. There are other players on other teams like Boston Red Sox’s Mookie Betts and Detroit Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera worthy to get some consideration.

In addition, we have not even touched on the pitchers that are sure to be in possible consideration. Therefore, my answer would be possibly for the team’s MVP, but for the American League, I doubt it as it presently stands.

I don’t know about Jose Ramirez being mentioned as an AL MVP candidate. However, he would be a front-runner for the Elmer’s Glue Award (or maybe we can get Gorilla Glue to pay a few extra $ for the naming rights). He has been holding the Tribe together all season.

Ramirez has done more than just plug gaps in just about every defensive and offensive position throughout the 2016 season. He has been an iron rod of strength in each spot.

By being able to play well enough in place of Uribe at third base, the hot corner has transformed from a glaring weakness to a foundational piece in the lineup. Ramirez also has been a doubles machine lately. He is ninth with 31 doubles, but that is just seven off the league lead.

Jay Frierson

While I have been the biggest critic of Jose Ramirez over the past few years, he has been nothing short of sensational this year. He has playing out of his mind right now, and overall this season. Still, I would not put him in the American League MVP race just yet. I would however put Mike Napoli in there for sure. If the MLB had a MIP (Most Improved Player) award, it would go to J-Ram. There is no doubt about that!
