Is Deserving, But May Not Even Be Best On His Team

Jose Ramirez is a huge long shot to win MVP for the American League. Ramirez has been a key player for the Indians, as he’s been hitting well and stealing bases left and right.

Without him, the Indians definitely are not leading the AL Central by seven games. That being said, one could make the arguments that Ramirez is not even the MVP for the Indians! Lindor is doing well everything for the Tribe, while Mike Napoli continues to swing an impressive bat. He has 29 home runs and 87 RBIs so far this season.

Ramirez is a great player and fans can definitely argue he’s been Cleveland’s MVP this season. However, I personally could not put him over his fellow teammates, Lindor and Napoli. If Ramirez is not the MVP of his own team, I cannot say he deserves to be the American League’s MVP.

Without Jose Ramirez, the Indians would not be where they are. The same goes for Francisco Lindor and Mike Napoli. So, if Ramirez is worthy of AL MVP consideration, then all three of them would be too.

Ramirez does not have an impressive resume to build on. Had he experienced a successful season in past, perhaps that would benefit him now.

We have seen other players succeed, but were very early in their careers. After a little it of time with consistent statistics and progress, they ultimately were named a MVP. If Ramirez can build on this season in 2017, then I would be more confident in him having a chance to win the award.

I’d love to see any member of the Indians organization become the AL MVP. Unfortunately, this is not going to be the year. Instead, the team will continue to work as a whole, to an extent under the radar into the playoffs.
