An MVP Is Not In The Cards This Year

Jose Ramirez has been a knight in shinning armor for the Indians this year. He has also been arguably one of the most clutch guys in the entire majors.

Cleveland has placed Ramirez in every spot in the batting order. The result? Plenty of production from each spot. Most noteworthy with runners in scoring position, Ramirez is hitting a unbelievable .386. As a result that is seventh in the majors and fourth in the AL.

If manager Terry Francona wants anyone coming to the plate with runners in scoring position, you can bet he’s going to want it be Ramirez.

With a .311 batting average, that is almost 100 points higher than what Ramirez hit in 2015. After only driving in 27 runs last season, Ramirez has driven in 55 in 2016.

Ramirez is having a career year, and he has been the heart of the success for this year’s Tribe team. In 2016 though, Ramirez is going to be one of those key guys the Indians count on if they want to make a deep run into the playoffs.

Ramirez has been an MVP for the Indians thus far, along with Mike Napoli, Francisco Lindor, and even Jason Kipnis. But as far as the MVP for the entire AL, that might be something far-fetched for Ramirez. For someone who is only 23 years old, if he can continue to produce at a high level in years to come then maybe a league MVP could be in his future.

As far as 2016 goes, as good as a year Ramirez is having, there are other players who are having even better years and are more deserving of an MVP. If Ramirez keeps up this kind of play, there is no doubt in anyone’s mind he can be a special player. Possibly even be a future league MVP.
