It’s A Rebuild, So Expect Disappointment

Ric McElroy

I am sorry to say that unless the Cleveland Browns made giant strides in the next two or three weeks, this may prove to be a long ugly season. Sashi Brown stated that they look for more than the three wins they got last year. Well Brown, you better get ready for some disappointment!

There is no doubt that the Browns are young. They need to grow and play together to have some form of consistency.

The right side of the offensive line will probably change in the next one or two years. Cleveland lost this past offseason two good players in center Alex Mack and right tackle Mitchell Schwartz. Then there is the priority of trying to keep Robert Griffin healthy and on the field.

Achieving that would be a major accomplishment. Plus, the lack of a run game won’t help keep the rush from the wolfs door! It’s going to take some time for these youngsters to mold. In the meantime, Cleveland must try to keep their play-makers from the IR.

Now let’s talk defense or the lack thereof. Until the Browns’ defense learns to stop the run, they will have big problems holding almost any team at bay. Not to mention the lack of a pass rush and the lack of the ability to cover on the corners and safeties.

The Browns have talent, but time will tell how exactly how much. That said, the fans better realize that this is like 1999. Most of the team’s roster is in a do-over and it will take time!!
