Browns Got Early First Half Lead

If you only watched the first quarter of Sunday’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns, you saw some of the best Browns football return in 1999. In one drive, Josh McCown made Browns fans forget that there was even hype around Robert Griffin III.

McCown led the offense to perfection on a nine-play, 75-yard opening drive that ended with a 31-yard touchdown throw to rookie wide receiver Corey Coleman. It was the best opening drive in a home opener since the Browns return in 1999. Okay, so game two was off to a fast start for the Browns. There was a buzz in First Energy Stadium, and it was only going to get better.

After the Browns stopped the Ravens on their first possession, running back Isaiah Crowell took went 85-yards down the field for the team’s second touchdown of the game. It was easily the best run Crowell’s career, and all of a sudden the Browns were ahead 14-0.

Such a score Left the hometown crowd and Ravens players stunned. It was only halfway through the first quarter, and it looked like the Browns had come out to play. They looked like a completely different team than they did in Week One.

Browns fans around the world, at home, or out and about likely heard the score and turned the game on. Rarely does the team come out firing on all cylinders.

The game was three possessions old and the Browns looked like they were about to dominate. There was a feeling that the team could actually win a home opener, and the next Ravens series only helped to fuel that feeling.
