Whitehurst Will Be The Last One

Ric nailed it. The calendar hasn’t even flipped to October yet! But the answer is four.

The Browns will need to make a splashy move this offseason, because the Dawg Pound must be growing increasingly apathetic over the product on the field.

More from Factory of Sadness

Here’s the good news. The quarterback count shouldn’t grow higher than four. That’s what we call a victory in the Factory of Sadness! Josh McCown is probably going to return, and Robert Griffin will likely be eligible to play around Week 12.

I fully expect both of these men to play again in an orange helmet. I expect them to lose, and I don’t expect them to be around next season. But we’re counting quarterbacks here.

Call me a cock-eyed optimist, but I think Cody Kessler makes it through Sunday’s contest unscathed. I just don’t think Hue Jackson’s going to put him in a position to get hurt.

I envision a lot of quick, short-to-intermediate throws, and a lot of Isaiah Crowell. If he’s not standing in the pocket holding the ball, Miami’s crazy good offensive line can’t do any damage.

But slow your roll Kessler fans. Eventually he’ll be benched in favor of Charlie Whitehurst. He’ll likely get injured at some point, or he’ll just be ineffective. Once “Clipboard Jesus” gets a little more acclimated with the offense, I expect him to play.

This means we won’t see Kevin Hogan, and that’s okay. I think this kid has some potential. Remember, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid drafted him and the guy knows something about quarterbacks. Look at what he’s doing with Alex Smith! Let’s not ruin Hogan!
