CB- Jamar Taylor

The play of cornerback Jamar Taylor continues to go largely unnoticed. Taylor is having the best season of his four-year career.

His play is a positive notch for the new regime. The former Miami Dolphins second round pick was acquired during a 2016 Draft day trade involving the two teams swapping seventh round selections. After three disappointing seasons in Miami, their decision to essentially give Taylor was justified– but Taylor has made the most of his change of scenery.

Taylor’s PFF rating of 78.3 is 37th among NFL corners and by far exceeds his previous career high rating (47.4). In comparison, Joe Haden ranks 93rd among corners with a rating of just 50.5. Taylor is far-and-away the team’s best player in the secondary. He just never received the necessary playing time to develop in Miami.

As a result, Taylor was a draft-day steal for Sashi Brown and company. He’s two tackles away from his career high (35), while grabbing his first two career interceptions in the process. His eight passes defended are second on the team to Haden (10). Taylor is a name to watch as the Browns look to evaluate talent at season’s end.
