Don’t Expect Much From Washington

Ric McElroy

This is a tough call. Who will win the College Football Playoff? There are good teams vying for the championship, but I don’t think Washington has much of a chance. They haven’t played much of a team out of conference to get here.

Washington had real trouble with USC. They obliterated Colorado, but the Buffaloes were without their first string quarterback Sefo Liufau midway through the first quarter.

More from Ohio State Buckeyes

The teams of Clemson and The Ohio State are basically pretty much even, but Clemson’s youth is not on the same level as the Buckeyes. If you look at this match up closely, the trouble the Buckeyes have had with their passing game could eventually be their death mill.

However, the Tigers have also had lapses and it depends on which team shows up for both sides.
Alabama on the other hand look primed and ready for this playoff. That said, they have stumbled before. Remember, two years ago Ohio State beat them with their third string quarterback Cardale Jones.

I look for Alabama to come out on top as the Buckeyes are a year or two away from being dominant. However, both the Tigers and Buckeyes are capable on a good day, of taking the trophy.

Since the teams have been picked, I see a rematch between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Alabama Crimson Tide.

Clemson will be tough with their spread offense, but they are beatable as we saw Pitt do exactly that a few weeks ago. Saban will have the Crimson Tide ready for the pro-style attack of the Washington Huskies.

At the end of the day, and I am not being biased, but Ohio State will win against Alabama.

I know the Buckeyes are young in all areas. However, with a young quarterback in Hurts and without as cerebral an attack as the Crimson Tide usually have, they’re very beatable this time around. Ohio State will have to be on their A+ game defensively, but I believe they will pull it out in the end.
