Cleveland Cavs Trade Talk: 5 Cavaliers Trade Targets
SF P.J. Tucker
John Gambadoro of ArizonaSports.com reported the Cleveland Cavaliers “expressed interest” in acquiring Phoenix Suns small forward P.J. Tucker. Tucker averages 6.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per contest.
At 6-foot-6 and 245 pounds, Tucker is a physical, shutdown defender — hence his reportedly high price tag. He’s in the last year of his contract and a bargain at $5.3 million. If Griffin pulls the trigger on this deal, likely including a future first-round pick and a younger roster piece, he runs the risk of Tucker bolting in free agency after this season. Meaning it would be an expensive rental for the Cavaliers.
Tucker would be a nice addition, but if the Cavaliers are going to overpay at the deadline it should be on a guard — preferably at the point. Besides, Tucker’s 30.4 shooting percentage from deep doesn’t exactly fit into the team’s style of play. His career average of 1.6 assists per game proves he’s not much of facilitator, either.

The NBA trade deadline is nearly a month away and the Cavaliers need to make a move to solidify their bench heading into March. Griffin has pushed all the right buttons during his tenure with the Cavs, there’s no reason to believe he won’t do it this year too.
