Davis Webb, QB, Cal, Projected Round: 4th,, 5th

In Browns Town, we’re so quarterback hungry that the Dawg Pound easily falls for any quarterback.

After this Davis Webb quote from the NFL combine, the Cal product certainly falls into that category.

Davis played at Texas Tech before transferring to Cal while playing as a graduate transfer, much like Russel Wilson did with Wisconsin a few years back.

Webb won the Senior Bowl MVP, and that game’s Director, Phil Savage, believes the Cal product as NFL starter’s potential.

"In his only season at Cal as a graduate transfer, Davis connected on 382-of-620 passes (61.6%) for 4295 yards, 37 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He has an intriguing combination of height and arm strength to go along with his maturity and football intellect. Although his practices were uneven, this former Texas Tech QB put it all together on game day with a sterling performance to earn the Reese’s Cup MVP trophy in Mobile."

It’s easy to get a little worried about big guys, such as Webb. Are they all arm? That’s not the case, as Webb was good with short to intermediary throws and his 60 percent passing accuracy reflects that.

One unnamed NFL executive thinks Webb would be the perfect fit for the Browns, via CBS Sports.

"“If I were a team like Cleveland, I would take impact players at (pick Nos.) 1 and 12 and then trade back into the bottom of the first round for Davis Webb,” an NFL executive told NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah. “I think he will end up being the best quarterback of this draft class.”"

Webb shouldn’t be the Browns answer to the quarterback position, but he should be under strong consideration, especially the longer he’s on the board. The Browns enter the 2017 NFL Draft with 10 picks. After some many hapless attempts to fix the position, it’s about time the Browns started using multiple picks at the position.
