Candidates the Browns should consider in the 3rd round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Browns own the 65th pick, which is the first selection of the third round.

1 Fabian Moreau, CB: Moreau might’ve been a first-round pick, or at the very least, a high second round selection had he not torn his pectoral during UCLA’s pro day workout. He’s expected to be back at full strength in mid August.

Acquiring Moreau in the third round would an absolute steal for this regime.

2 Curtis Samuel, RB/WR: The Browns still need guys who can score, and Samuel checks that list. Hue Jackson can use him in a variety of ways.

3 Kareem Hunt, RB, Toledo: Probably a reach at No. 65, but there’s no doubting his production. Pro Football Focus highlighted his elusive rating:

With Isaiah Crowell playing poker by not signing his contract tender, you’ve got to wonder if the Browns will start looking for his replacement.

4.Tarell Basham, DE, OU: Yeah, it was the MAC, but his kid got after the quarterback. His measurables (6′ 4″, 269 pounds, 34 1/4-inch arms) make you pay attention, and he totaled 11.5 sacks and 16 tackles for a loss last season.

Having pass rushers who can rotate in and out so they stay fresh isn’t a bad thing, and the addition of Basham would continue to put AFC North quarterbacks on notice.

5. Taylor Moton, OL, Western Michigan: Isn’t the third round the perfect place to take a lineman? You don’t want to burn a high pick on the position, unless you’re getting an elite talent. With that said, you can find really good offensive line prospects in the later rounds. Good teams do it. Look no further than the Steelers.

Moton is attractive because he can play guard and tackle. I’m still worried about Joel Bitonio coming back from foot surgery. Plus, right tackle is still a position without an owner. Cameron Irving and Shon Coleman will get the opportunity there, but those two men shouldn’t keep the Browns from trying to upgrade the position.
