2007 Cleveland Cavaliers

I was going to try to make the case that the 2006-2007  Cavaliers were better than the 2015 injury ravaged squad LeBron took to Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

I can’t.

Look at that 2007 roster. The more and more you do it, the more amazing it is that LeBron and Cavs got by the Piston’s and ended Detroit’s dominance of the East in the process.

Larry Hughes ranks as one of the worst free-agent signings in Cavs history. When Ira Newble was on the floor, the Cavs were admiringly going with just four players on offense.  Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Anderson Varejao are fan favorites, but they were exposed as unatlhetic and slow against a Spurts team that featured Tim Duncan in his prime.

Other names from that team include Drew Gooden, who had a nice career, and Daniel Gibson, who had one of the greatest games in Cavaliers playoff history.

No one would have guessed that the 2007 squad would be the only Cavaliers team LeBron would take to the Finals during his first reign over the Forrest City.
