Cleveland Cavaliers: 5 NBA free agents to target with the mid-level exception
C.J. Miles
At 30, C.J. Miles would upgrade the roster because of his ability to knock down 3-pointers, plus, former Cavalier can play a little defense.
Think of him as a slightly better Iman Shumpert.
The 6-foot-6 wing averaged 10.7 points per game last season, while shooting a career best .413 from beyond the arc.
Check out this stat about his defense, via The Sixer Sense:
"…Between 2013-2016, he posted an average defensive rating of 101, with his best mark coming during the 2014-15 season (98.4)."
Writer Jackson Frank noted that Miles regressed last year defensively, but added that his decline might of had something to do with playing on the Pacers.
"In 2016-17 though, Miles regressed, producing a mediocre 106.0 defensive rating. However, last year’s mark should be labeled an outlier and attributed to the Pacers collectively underwhelming as a team."
Miles played with the Cavs during the 2013-2014 campaign. Former GM David Griffin needed to move him during the summer of 2014 as the Cavaliers pushed to clear cap space to sign LeBron James.
