GOODYEAR, AZ – MARCH 11: Francisco Mejia /

2. Francisco Mejia, Akron Rubber Ducks

Despite dealing with injuries for most of the season Francisco Mejia is still producing at very high numbers. Explaining to everyone why he is the Indians #1 prospect.

Playing in 68 games, Mejia is hitting over .300, with 10 home runs and 36 RBI’s.

Rewarding Mejia’s play, he was selected to represent the Indians at the Sirius XM All-Star Futures game for the second year in a row. In the All-Star futures game, Mejia was 1-2 with a run scored.

On top of being selected for the All-Star Futures game, Mejia was also selected to be an All-Star for the AA Eastern League All-Stars.

Mejia is deserving of a promotion because even though the Clippers have 2 catchers who are producing at very high levels. Mejia is the organizations top prospect, to keep him down and not face better competition is just a waste of talent. Mejia’s talents and skills need to keep being pushed.

It is no secret the Indians have 2 catchers. But neither of those catchers are producing enough to feel comfortable with them in the lineup.

Mejia is the next big thing for the Indians. Especially at a position that the Indians may need the most help in.

It isn’t just at the plate where Mejia succeeds . Behind the plate Mejia has thrown out 16 of 31 attempting base runners. That means he is throwing out over 50% of baserunners attempting to steal.
