Jabrill Peppers, FS

Yeah, you read that right. Browns’ head coach listed Jabrill Peppers as the No. 2 free safety on the team.

It’s interesting because Peppers plays strong safety, although Jackson tried to shield media questions about his position by stating that the free and strong safety positions are interchangeable.

He’s still second on the depth chart, but none-the-less, but was unusual to see Peppers out of place at free safety.

Derek Kindred is listed as the starter at free safety.

Although Peppers hasn’t secured a starting gig defensively, he’ll be noticeable in the punt-return game, as the Michigan product is No. 1 on the depth chart.

The Browns haven’t had a decent return game in recent memory, having seemed content just to catch the ball and take a knee.

Obviously, these plays are wasted opportunities for a team whose offense struggles to put up points.
