Caleb Brantley, DT

Caleb Brantley is so buried on the depth chart, you’d be hard pressed to remember he’s a part of the team.

There was some talk that Brantley may be in a position to get some key reps this summer, but finger surgery severely limited him.

When healthy, Brantley faced a challenge, because the Browns possess a lot of depth in the middle of the defensive line. Desmond Bryant, who is returning from a lost year due to a pectoral injury, in addition to free agent signee Trevon Coley, there will be even more teammates to jump for playing time.

Browns’ fans thought they’d be getting a steal in Brantley during the 2017 NFL draft. Legal problems caused Brantley to plummet, until the Browns scooped him up in the sixth round. Some projected the Florida product to be a late first, or second round pick.

There’s still a lot of season left, and since he’s a value pick, there’s going to be a point where the front office sees what they have in the rookie.
