Cleveland Browns: 5 surprises from Preseason Week 2 depth chart
4. No movement at MLB
Joe Schobert was praised by Hue Jackson as someone who really stood out in the preseason opener, yet he’s still behind Tank Carder on the depth chart.
He’s pushing Tank Carder for the starting middle linebacker job, and his sack against the Saints certainly helped him make the case.
But Carder is still ahead of Schobert on this week’s unofficial depth chart. Unofficial might be the keyword there, because the Browns have everything to gain by playing Schobert, a 2016 fourth-round pick, with the first team.
When debating an unofficial depth chart, as only a diehard Browns fans can do, it may be forgotten that the third preseason contest is the most important exhibition contest.
Perhaps coaches are looking for some consistency with the Wisconsin product. If he shows it, perhaps he’ll go more important playing time against first stringers when the Browns play their third preseason game of the year at Tampa.
