2. The next great Ohio State DB makes a name for himself

Since 2014 Ohio State has without a doubt produced the best defensive backs. Six defensive backs have been drafted from THE Ohio State University. Four of those six were drafted in the first round. The names include Eli Apple, Malik Hooker, Gareon Conley and Marshon Lattimore.

Fans may ask themselves, it isn’t possible that Greg Schiano can possibly recreate what he had last year.? No, that isn’t possible. However, it is possible that Ohio State can have one of the best defenses in the country and the defensive backs will be key in that.

The defensive backs for Ohio State are arguably going to be the weakest group of players on the team.

The leader of this group and the only returning starter is Damon Webb. Defensive coordinator Greg Schiano speaks very highly of Webb. Schiano said the Webb is the guy you want out there because he runs things.

Followed by Webb will be Jordan Fuller, who will start at the other safety position. That leaves the two corner back spots. The first corner back will be Damon Arnette. Arnette will not be alone though. He will be joined by JUCO transfer Kendall Sheffield.

The ACTUAL No. 1 corner however, will be Denzel Ward. Ward has the fastest 40 on the team, and could easily be the next defensive back drafted in the first round.

This group of defensive backs has said they should be without a doubt be B.I.A. (Best in America).

This game against Indiana should be a fairly easy test. After Zander Diamont stepped away from football, the Hoosiers are going to rely on Richard Lagow. In 2016 Lagow received Honorable Mention All-Big Ten. In 13 games, Lagow threw 19 touchdowns but also threw 17 interceptions. one of which came against Ohio State.

There is no doubt these defensive backs are going to need to step up, and against Indiana is the perfect chance for them to prove that they have what it takes.
