5 reasons the Browns will upset the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1
Flippin’ the field
The Browns punt return game was so bad the past few seasons, that the fact that I even have write this is worthy of a face palm.
But alas, here we are.
And wow, the Browns appear to have kick/punt returns figured out, thanks to Jabrill Peppers.
Not since Josh Cribbs have the Browns had a serious threat who could return punts. Travis Benjamin had his moments, but his frail frame always left me worried.
Peppers looks like a playmaker in every since of the word, and for a team starting a rookie quarterback, good field position might as well be as good as gold.
Peppers doesn’t have to return every kick to the house, but if he can take a punt from the 20 to the 40, or a kick return to the 35, the Browns–most notably, Kizer–will have more confidence, as opposed to being backed up in their own territory.
It’s not rocket science. It’s football…says the guy who still has nightmares over Jim Leonhard returning punts, and by returning punts, I mean calling for a fair catch no matter where he was on the field.
