4. Maryland’s limited offense won’t be able to keep up with a suddenly potent Buckeye attack.

After looking stagnant early on, the Bucks are flowing more than ever on offense. The Bucks are now up to fourth in the nation in yards per game. This resurgence on offense has gave way to a more confident team as well as a better outlook on the season as a whole.

One of the main reasons for the Buckeye offense’s success has been the play of quarterback J.T. Barrett. His confidence is up and he’s been more apt to giving his receivers opportunities to make plays rather than trying to do it all himself.

Maryland’s passing offense is ranked 102nd in the nation. This dreadful stat is followed by the fact that their quarterback to start the season Tyrrell Pigrome is injured and so is their backup quarterback Kasim Hill. Now the Terrapins are faced with continuing their season with the third string quarterback leading the way in sophomore Max Bortenschlager. Terrapins’ leading receiver D.J. Moore has been a major factor in keeping their passing game rolling but that may not be enough to keep them within arm’s reach.

Fortunately for the Terrapins, their running game is a bit better so their losses at quarterback don’t take away from their greatest offensive strength. However, their run game is still far from great as it ranks 41st in the country. The Terrapins’ rushing attack is led by a committee of ball carriers in Ty Johnson and Lorenzo Harrison III.

Believe it or not, the Bucks are now ranked 14th in passing yards per game. That is miles ahead of where they were not too long ago. Last season, the Bucks ranked 81st in passing yards per game.

The sky is the limit for the Bucks if they keep operating at this level. This offense hasn’t looked this good in quite a while and it feels good to see it functioning with all of its parts. Expect the Buckeyes’ offense to keep rolling as their ceiling continues to rise against Maryland.
