5. Nolan Jones, 3B.

Nolan Jones is not a name very man people have heard of yet. Jones dropped right into the Indians lap in the 2016 draft due to some signability issues. The Indians drafted him in the second round and offered him nearly twice as much then his value for a signing bonus to lure him away from going to Virginia to play.

Well, it worked. Jones signed with the Indians and has since been progressing. Jones is a batter who just brings natural raw power to the plate and has a fluid left-handed swing that will only add home runs as Jones adds strength to his body.

In 2016, Jones got off to a slow debut but in 2017 is when we really started to see what Jones can do at the plate. He slashed a line of .317/.430/.482. On top of that, his eyes for the ball also improved as he drew 20 more walks and dropped his strikeout rate from 36.6 to 22.6.

Jones was also able to smash 18 doubles, 4 home runs, 3 triples and drive in 33 runs. All of that in only 62 games for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.

While we wait to see how much Jones can improve offensively, he is also going to really improve defensively. In only 53 games at third base Jones committed 22 errors. If Jones can clean up his act on the defensive side of things then he should remain a top prospect until he reaches the majors.

This season Jones is going to more than likely start with the Single-A Advanced Lynchburg Hillcats. If Jones can prove he improved defensively and can still hit at a consistent rate he may reach Double-A for a few games. But for the most part, expect Jones to be the everyday third baseman for the Hillcats.
