OT. Western Michigan. Chukwuma Okorafor. 65. player. 53.

Chukwuma Okorafor or Chuks Okorafor for short kicks off the third round as Cleveland’s next selection. Help is needed at offensive tackle whether or not left tackle Joe Thomas retires. The way he is speaking though certainly gives that feeling in Cleveland and around the country that his days in the NFL are over.

By drafting Okorafor, the former Western Michigan Bronco is starting either on the left or the right side of the line. Some may not know who he is but that will change quickly. Okorafor is one of the few offensive players that I would be pushing hard to select if I were in a war room during April’s draft.

While he has a little experience, there is still that ball of clay aspect teams has to see to a degree with Okorafor. That is a good thing as tackles’ bad habits can be fixed easier.

Having played both left and right tackle benefits him regardless of the system he steps into. Okorafor has faster feet during passing plays but fast enough during the run. When he gets his hands on a defender, they are not moving.

The issues with Okorafor are the mental aspect since he hasn’t played as long as others and some technique concerns. However, the more he plays (along with good coaching) and playing alongside left guard Joel Bitonio will get him up to speed enough to the point where fans say “wow” in a positive way!
