Austin Corbett, OL

The failures of the Browns’ running game in the preseason opener can’t be totally pinned on rookie Austin Corbett, but their decision to work out Greg Robinson at left tackle this past week may be a reflection of the 33rd overall pick in the draft.

Corbett, in his NFL debut, played left guard with the first and second teams against the Giants, and the rushing attack went nowhere but backwards.

Cleveland’s just trying to put their five best linemen together on the field.

So coaches are trying to figure out if Robinson is good enough at left tackle so that Bitonio may move back to guard. On the flip side, if Corbett shows the coaches something at guard, the team will keep Bitonio at tackle.

The draft offered a not-so-desirable class of left tackles, so Browns GM John Dorsey took the best lineman he thought was available in Corbett.

Corbett played left tackle at Nevada, but many suspected he’d play guard in the NFL.

The kid is deserving of a break, as he was playing in his first pro contest against New York.

But that’s why Corbett needs a good game against the Bills. He’s gotten a taste of the NFL trenches and he’s got to give the coaches a reason to leave him on the field.
