5 Cleveland Browns whose stocks rose following Week 2 Saints’ loss
Larry Ogunjobi, DT
Larry Ogunjobi had two sacks of Drew Brees, and it was almost three, except an illegal contract penalty in the secondary nixed the play.
The former UNC-Charlotte 49er had a huge, 11-yard sack of Brees late in the first half to push the Saints back, resulting in a missed field goal.
Tons of attention is given to Myles Garrett on the EDGE, and rightfully so, but when’s the last time the Cleveland Browns had a bonafide pass rushing threat on the inside?
Ogunjobi now has three sacks on the season.
Speaking of Garrett, the second-year player was most unseen, matchup up against rookie Terron Armstead.
He didn’t have the game changing plays we saw against Pittsburgh, but some of that may have to do with Brees, who knows how to get rid of the ball.
But with all the attention Garrett draws, we’ll never truly know how much that impacted what Ogunjobi was able to do on the interior.
He also did his job on the interior slowing down the speedy Alvin Kamara. The back, who averaged over 6.0 yards per carry last season, was limited to just 46 yards on 13 carries.
Ogunjobi, 6-3, 305 pounds, was a third-round pick in 2017. He flashed his ability to get the quarterback a season ago, and he looks even better in the current campaign.
