Damarious Randall, S

Pro Football Focus highlighted what Damarious Randall could be at safety, which is what he played in college.

The Green Bay Packers tried to make Randall a corner, and he’s graded out terribly.

But now that he’s back at safety, he’s rewarding the Browns as Gregg Williams “Angel” defender.

Randall had four tackles, defensed two passes and picked up a pair of fumbles to cement what was an all around solid good game.

This performance comes one week after he intercepted Ben Roethlisberger in the season opener.

Randall’s sharing some of the blame with Denzel Ward on the second touchdown allowed to Michael Thomas, but that’s a Hall of Fame quarterback hooking up with one of the best young receivers in the game.

Drew Brees didn’t throw 300 yards and the Saints didn’t hang up 40 points. Randall did a good job in the secondary in a game the Browns should’ve won.

His presence also afford the Browns to play Jabrill Peppers at strong safety, a move that’s also paying dividends. Just think about how often you see Peppers in the mix now.

The Browns played him last year at the Angel spot out of necessity, but now he’s found home as the defense continues to impress.
