Cleveland Browns: 5 players whose stock is up after Jets win
Joe Schobert, LB
Joe Schobert doesn’t necessarily excite anyone with his play. Despite being a Pro Bowler, he doesn’t typically make memorable plays that define the game.
He’s a middle linebacker known for making lots of tackles. That’s not a bad thing, but few consider him an impact player.
That changed Thursday night, as Schobert picked off Sam Darnold on the penultimate drive, forcing a nationally televised audience to notice him.
Schobert had another Schobert game with seven tackles and two passes defensed. He probably should’ve had two interceptions, but dropped a first-half attempt from Darnold.
Schobert has had a good season all-around. Entering the Jets’ contest, he graded out as Pro Football Focus’ 25th ranked linebacker with a 68.8 mark, which is considered good. He’s been particularly strong in coverage (76.0) grade, which was on display Thursday night.
Schobert has 23 tackles on the year to go along with three passes defensed in addition to his Thursday night interception.
