EJ Gaines

When’s the last time the Cleveland Browns kept a team from scoring a touchdown?

E.J. Gaines was a big part of the defense’s success, playing a key part in at least four incompletions (by my count).

Let’s be honest, we were all terrified of what Joe Flacco might do to the secondary with Terrance Mitchell going on the IR with a surgically repaired wrist.

Instead, Gaines stepped up, didn’t allow the big play, and more importantly, made plays.

The initial box score doesn’t reveal much about how he played, revealing he just had four tackles.

But you know he was important because the Ravens were touted as AFC North champs based off what the artillery offered to Joe Flacco in the receiving corps.

Michael Crabtree had six catches for 66 yards. John Brown had four catches four 55 yards.  Willie Snead had five for 55. Decent performances, but nothing that was game altering.

This was Joe Flacco’s first game without throwing a touchdown since Nov. 27, 2017.
