Derrick Willies had three catches, and his last was his most memorable.
This isn’t the preseason. This isn’t Willies cleaning up in garbage time against fourth stringers in the Battle of Lake Erie.
He made the biggest play of the game at the most critical point of the contest. If Willies falls down after he catches that pass form Mayfield, guess what? It’s not good enough.
Instead, he caught it and ran, setting up the eventual game winning field goal.
Willies’ status will be worth watching moving forward, especially with Higgins leaving the game with knee injury. The Browns are looking at ex-Titan Rashard Matthews, but Willies might’ve shown enough to stave the veteran off.
