3. Rookie receiving corps

The offense is counting a lot on Antonio Callaway and the production wasn’t there.

Fellow rookie Damion Ratley, appearing in just his second game, was basically a no show as well.

The two rookies combined for four catches for 47 yards.

Don’t beat the drum from a Dez Bryant signing, though.

Cleveland probably wants to look at Rashard Higgins, who should be back from a knee injury sooner than later.

Plus, Breshard Perriman is still getting his feet wet and I think at the least, he’ll continue to get an extended look. After all, instead of signing Bryant or Rishard Matthews, John Dorsey opted to take a look on Perriman, instead.

It took a while, but Mayfield’s best receiving options were Jarvis Landry and David Njoku.

The lack of production from the receiving corps is a disappointment just because how poorly Tampa’s defense defends the pass. Not all for his is on the youngsters. Toddy Haley shares plenty of blame, as you’ve already read.

At least Mayfield did find a way to incorporate Landry, who had 10 catches for 97 yards and a score.
