Don’t discount the Bell drama

Le’Veon Bell still isn’t playing.

Le’Veon Bell has willingly forfeited $6 million in salary for the 2018 season by refusing to sign his $14 million contract tender.

The Steelers have moved on past bell, largely because of the play of James Conner, but if you were the Browns, who would you rather play?

I think the answer is easy: Conner.

More from Factory of Sadness

Yes, Conner cut up the Browns for 135 yards in Week 1, but he also committed a key fumble.

He’s still has a lot to prove as he establishes himself as a consistent commodity, which favors the Browns, in this case. Yes, he’s rushed for 100 yards in each of his last two games, but he’s also turned some clunkers in along the way.

After his success against Cleveland, Conner followed up in Week 2 with just eight carries for 17 yards. Then he had 15 carries for 61 yards against the Bucs before rushing for 21 yards on nine carries against the Ravens. While he didn’t effectively rush the ball in those three games, he did catch 13 balls for 109 in those three contests.

The point is that yes, the second-year veteran is capable of inflicting damage, but at the same time, the Steelers rushing attack has missed Bell on some occasions.

Meanwhile, the Steelers are acting like they’re winning the Bell negotiation–rightfully so. But his contract situation, showing up again prominently in the media isn’t a bad thing in the world of distractions.

Bell is apparently hoping to be traded by the NFL’s Oct. 30 deadline. He would have to end his holdout before Week 10 to accrue an NFL season.
