Cleveland Browns: 4 wide receivers to target before NFL trade deadline
3. Emmanuel Sanders
Depending on who you trust, Emmanuel Sanders may or may not be available via trade. CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora said the Broncos are getting calls, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote Denver doesn’t want to deal him and would rather part with Demaryius Thomas.
The former Pittsburgh Steeler is on pace for 1,300 yards this season and would provide an instant shot of adrenaline to Browns’ offense that’s showed a propensity to stall at times, especially in the first half.
Like Thomas, Sanders is under team control through 2019, where he’ll carry a cap hit of $12.9 million.
Because Sanders is a little cheaper, in addition to being more productive, he’s going to cost the Browns a little bit more on the trade block.
Sanders, along with Hilton, are the two most explosive threats you’re going to find on this list. The Browns are going to have address the wide receiving position in the draft, because all the trade deadline offers is players with high contracts teams are looking to part with.
With that said, Sanders would help stabilize the offense this season and should still be a productive player in the final year of his deal.
The Browns really have something in rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield. The wise thing to do would be to get him some help.
