Cleveland Browns: 6 coaching candidates who should replace Hue Jackson
2. Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma
Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley has been tied to the Browns’ coaching job more than anyone else because of his tie to Cleveland’s rookie, Baker Mayfield.
Like Campbell, Riley’s young (34) and NFL teams are already picking his brain as to how run a 2018 offense.
The obvious connection remain Mayfield, though. Baker was a Heisman Trophy winner under Riley and the en vogue move in the league now is to pair a quarterback with an offensive minded up and coming coach: See Sean McVay and Jared Goff.
No one better knows how to squeeze success out of Mayfield better than Riley, and that alone makes him one of the top candidates to be the next coach of the Cleveland Browns.
Despite their 2-5-1 record, the Browns have some nice young talent.
Nick Chubb has home-run hitting potential. David Njoku is 22 and a first-round pick. Antonio Callaway has serious upside, but has been miscast as a No. 2 receiver this early in his career.
Riley may be the one who can make it all work.
