1. Jerry Stackhouse, Asst. Coach, Memphis

Yes, it’s that Jerry Stackhouse, the man who played 18-years in the NBA following a stellar collegiate career at the university of North Carolina.

Stackhouse already has two years of head coaching experience, although that job came in the G-League. With that said, Stackhouse was a successful coach in the NBA’s minor leagues, coaching the Raptors’ squad to back-to-back Finals appearances, and winning in his second attempt.

He was also named the G-League’s coach of the year in 2017. Overall, Stackhouse had a 70-30 record in the G-League.

The former All-Star was most recently in contention to land the Detroit Pistons’ gig. He played five years there, but ultimately, Detroit went in a different direction.

Considering the Cavs’ shift toward playing their younger players, Stackhouse doesn’t seem like all that crazy of an idea.

As a G-League coach, he worked with younger players on a day-to-day basis and did so with a high degree of success.

And that was outside the glamorous life of the NBA.

Plus, Stackhouse, in theory, can relate to the modern player, having played for so long and it was just five years ago that he hung up his sneakers.

His name may not be synonymous with head coaching candidates, but get ready, he’s going to land a job somewhere soon, even if it isn’t in Cleveland.
