3. The Cornhuskers lack the play makers necessary to beat the Buckeyes

Last game was the perfect example of how to defeat the Buckeyes.

Purdue had the formula to beat the Bucks in a couple facets of their game. Their mixture of explosive play makers, good coaching, and a veteran quarterback was exactly what was necessary in order to take down Ohio State.

Purdue’s playmakers stepped up in a big way as they left the Buckeyes’ defense in the dust. Most notably, Purdue receiver Rondale Moore absolutely demolished the Bucks’ defense as their offense had no mercy getting him the ball in space as many times as they could. Moore was always open and made defenders miss or fall off of him every time he got the ball. Moore ended the game with 12 receptions for 170 yards and two touchdowns. He also added two rushes for 24 yards.

Second leading receiver Isaac Zico and running back D.J. Knox did their part in putting the nail in the coffin as well. Knox ran for 128 yards on 16 carries and had three touchdowns including one that went for 42 yards. Zico had two catches for 50 yards and a touchdown.

The Cornhuskers work offensively through running back Devine Ozigbo and receivers JD Spielman and Stanley Morgan Jr. Ozigbo averages over seven yards per carry and has eight touchdowns. Spielman has been one of the team’s best player and has seven touchdowns and almost seven hundred yards. Morgan has 638 yards and five touchdowns.

The Cornhuskers have a few threats on their team but not nearly enough to take down the Buckeyes–especially not in Columbus.

Nebraska will be hard pressed to put drives together without making as many explosive plays. If the Buckeyes remain diligent on covering up the few options the Cornhuskers have then they should stand a great chance at winning. Expect the Buckeyes to shut down the Cornhuskers this weekend.
