2. Baker Mayfield, QB

Browns’ coaches really wanted Baker Mayfield to work on how he uses his eyes to throw off defenses, according to The MMQB’s Albert Breer.

Apparently, it worked.

Because of the misdirection Mayfield created with his eyes, he created more space in the flat for his receivers to thrive.

His running back team of Duke Johnson and Nick Chubb combined for seven catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns.

For the game, Mayfield threw just 20 passes, a clear result of the Browns being up 18 points well into the second half.

This is the kind of game you want your rookie quarterback to play. His running backs were difference makers, but when he needed to make throws, he did, most notably, his touchdown pass to Rashard Higgins was a thing of beauty.

It’s amazing how different Mayfield looks now that Todd Haley and Hue Jackson are gone. He seems to be having fun again, and interim offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens has only had two weeks to work with him.

Just imagine what could be in store when the Browns come out of the Bye Week with two weeks to practice.

Mayfield is 45-of-62 for 513 yards, five touchdowns and an interception in the two games he’s played with Kitchens coordinating the offense. Something’s working.
