In Ohio State  rumors, it’s being reported that quarterback Dwayne Haskins will declare for the 2019 NFL Draft, should he play well down the stretch.

Ohio State football rumors are sure to ramp up in the next few weeks as the Buckeyes try to complete a miracle by locking down a spot in the College Football Playoff with quarterback Dwayne Haskins under center.

If you’re a fan of Haskins, enjoy his talent, because he may be suiting up in the NFL next season, according to Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller.

Miler had previously speculated on what the draft could look like on Haskins, suggesting he was probably better off staying in school. It wasn’t long after the scribe heard from multiple sources he suggested Haskins will declare for the 2019 NFL Draft.

"“Barring injury or a massive drop-off in play down the stretch, the plan is for Haskins to leave for the NFL draft after this season,” Miller wrote."

The redshirt sophomore has been a Heisman candidate for most of the season, while helping to re-write some of Ohio State’s record books through the air.

There’s no doubt Haskins can sling it, but at times, especially in the second half of the season, he’s been the poster boy for prospects who need more time in school.

He’s completing just north of 68 percent of his passes this year, but only 63 percent of his passes have been successful on the road. The Buckeyes played at Penn State, there was the Purdue debacle and at Michigan State this season. All were hostile territories.

With that said, Haskins’ arm was a big reason the Bucks beat TCU on a “neutral field” at AT&T Stadium in Texas.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. listed Haskins as his fourth best quarterback option, should heave leave Columbus. Only Oregon’s Justin Herbert, Duke’s Daniel Jones and WVU’s Will Grier ranked higher.

Kiper wrote the following on ESPN-Plus (subscription).

"Haskins is an interesting case — the first-year starter looks like a guy who has made only 10 career starts at times. But you can see the tools. He might be better served coming back and entering the 2020 draft."

Kiper states the obvious in that Haskins has 10 career starts, but this is a weak year for quarterbacks, which may play into his final decision when he analyzes his stock.

It’s important to note, that in Miller’s Bleacher Report article, the author wrote that Haskins will leave school, unless he plays poorly down the stretch.

This week, Haskins has a softy awaiting in Maryland. But with No. 4 Michigan waiting next Saturday, everyone may have a better idea on his future. Haskins helped defeat Michigan in Ann Arbor following an injury last season to J.T. Barrett.

A victory on Nov. 25 would elevate Haskins and the No. 10 Buckeyes into the Big 10 championship game, likely against Northwestern.

And then there’s Bowl season, and a possible trip into the CFP (a lot has to happen).

Bottom lining it: If Haskins shows out on the big stage, his stock is only to go higher and he’ll likely leave.
